Qualified defined contribution plans – which frequently are offered as 401(k) or 403(b) plans – are complex.  But when understood and managed strategically, employers can offer a better retirement plan benefit and simplify their own administrative responsibilities.

ERISA and the regulations implementing it create complex requirements for employers, but they also create opportunity.  Compliance requirements and regulatory safe harbors will be discussed as well as plan design and improved investments and education opportunities that allow employers to do more to help their employees better save and plan for retirement.

401(k) Solutions for a Better Retirement Plan will begin with an overview of the economic and regulatory environment in which employers offer defined contributions retirement plans today as well as a review of the key issues used to measure successful 401(k) and 403(b) plans.  Then opportunities and challenges will be presented for group discussion, concluding with suggestions from the speaker of best practices solutions.  The group discussion will allow attendees to share situations, actions they have taken, and issues that remain.
