Our October discussion facilitator will share important tips for how to prepare for your next opportunity. We'll take a look at what job seekers can and should be doing, and what recruiters should be looking for when seeking new talent for their companies.

    About the discussion facilitator:

Shaw Skurnick has been involved with HR/Recruiting/Onboarding/Sales for over 10 years. He was part of the onboarding team as a contractor with IBM from 2004-05. He moved on in late 2005/2006 to be a recruiting and staffing account manager for Guardsmark Security (now Allied Barton) from 2005 -2011. He also did sales at New York Life, AFLAC as well as office space rentals for a startup online university, Dulles University from 2011-2015.

His journey back to recruiting came about in 2015 when Dulles University went out of business. He is very passionate about National Security and after listening to a discussion downtown on National Defense, he was able to crystalize his search which in his case was doing recruiting for a DoD contractor, which he has been doing since the summer of 2016 for Advanced Concepts & Technologies International, LLC (ACT-1), ACT-1 is a rapidly growing DoD contractor, most known for its work with the F-35 Joint Strikefighter as well as other DoD and DHS Contracts.

Shaw is married to his wife Angela of 8 years, and they have 4 1/2 year old twin children, Zachary and Hannah, who keep them quite occupied.
