    Description:

    • Develop and manage an on-boarding program for all new hires to ensure employees are comfortable in the transition from new hire to employee
    • Develop and manage career development programs to include developing evaluation tools, feedback and engagement programs. Will also be responsible for managing a mentoring program
    • Provide management coaching
    • Responsible for investigating confidential employee relations issues and exercising sound discretionary judgment in recommending resolutions
    • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable employment federal and state requirements
    • Must be extremely accessible and be the "go-to" person for the company for questions on benefits, programs and processes
    • Manage the administration of benefits during open enrollment, on-boarding, terminations and life events
    • Develop communication tools for employees on benefit plans
    • Develop job descriptions and metrics for employee performance evaluations
    • Work with managers on compensation issues
    • Assist managers with recruiting activities

    Requirements:

    • 10+ years of solid HR generalist experience supporting a diverse workforce; experience with a mid-size start-up company preferable
    • Experience building an HR function for small to mid-size organizations
    • Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills. Must have the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external customers.
    • Experience developing employee orientation/on-boarding programs as well as career development programs necessary
    • Strong knowledge of employment law, specifically in Virginia, Maryland and California state law, and union regulations
    • Demonstrated experience managing benefit programs
    • Strong understanding of FMLA, FLSA, workers' compensation, and 401(k) plans
    • Compensation and recruiting experience a plus
    • PHR or SPHR preferable
