    Program Description:

    The presentation will focus on federal welfare law compliance mandates applicable to large employers, including the ACA employer shared responsibility mandate, 6055/6056 reporting and disclosure requirements, 2018 “Cadillac Tax” or Excise Tax issues, and an update of recent federal regulations, legislation and judicial cases that impact employers.” Target audience is employers with 50 or more full time equivalent employees. However, if there are companies that are on the threshold of 50 employees, 35 to 49 or are on the verge of a large hiring initiative, then this would apply as well.


    • Direction and guidance on how to execute the 6055 / 6056 form for the IRS

    • Direction and guidance on the upcoming Cadillac tax, including the ability to project and predict the amount tax incurred using the Cadillac Tax Impact Analysis Tool from USI – individual meeting would be conducted as it is based on the specific company data.

    • Preparation and guidance on mandates on shared responsibility manadates

    • ERISA compliance on Wellness  plans and recent EEOC court cases – what NOT to do.

    • Direct Q & A circumstances relevant to the topic or other ERISA / Employee Benefit Compliance issues.

    Ali Esfahani, ERISA Attorney

    Ali Esfahani, J.D., is the regional director of compliance and an ERISA attorney for the USI legal team, based in Falls Church, VA. He is responsible for all aspects of federal health and welfare legal compliance, including compliance with ERISA, health care reform (ACA), COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, MHPAEA, Internal Revenue Code taxation issues and other federal laws impacting employer-sponsored group health plans.

    Steven Pace, has 18 years of experience in the insurance industry, 2 years in property and Casualty with The Hartford Insurance Company in Hartford Connecticut and 16 years in Employee Benefits as President and CEO of Benecore,  a midsize regional brokerage located in the Eastern Panhandle of WV. Currently Steven is Senior Vice President of Employee Benefits with USI Insurance Services, the 3rd largest privately held insurance broker in the United States. Steven is veteran of Desert Storm 1991/ 1992 in the Connecticut and Virginia Army National Guard. He is also a member if the Dulles Chapter of SHRM and is a volunteer firefighter / EMT in Charles Town, WV.  where he resides with his wife Christie and their dog Sasha.
