What conflicts exist in your life?  How do you approach conversations that may be filled with conflict - either at the outset or end of discussion?  Join us for a dynamic session on Courageous Conflict led by Mary Roome-Godbolt

What are some of the difficult conversations that we need to have?  What are the downsides of avoiding those difficult conversations?   When the elder John D. Rockefeller was setting up the Standard Oil Company, he said, “The ability to deal with people is as purchasable a commodity as sugar or coffee, and I will pay more for that ability than for any other under the sun.” Being able to handle conflict in a positive way is usually one of the most difficult skills for people.  We will look at a few very successful strategies in handling conflict.  It can be very difficult to address issues and conflicts with co-workers and peers, and we will be looking at providing some tools and hands-on exercises to help to: Identify the root cause of the conflict Work on listening ability with regard to tone, feeling and underlying bias How to accept and share brutally honest feedback How to discuss changes that could be made to help reduce conflict in the relationship Put together an action plan for both parties involved in the conflict How to approach a work colleague about an on-going conflict will often depend on different factors.
