Business Continuity Planning – How to Ensure Your Business Can Survive a Natural Catastrophe, Man-Made Disaster, or Zombie Apocalypse?

Participants will learn strategies to improve their organization’s risk management and protect the organization from potential threats that could interrupt business operations. The presentation will focus on compliance, operational, technological, and financial strategies that need to be included in a business continuity plan.
Learning objectives of session:
- Strategies on designing and implementing a Business Continuity Plan to be included as part of your organization’s overall strategic plan
- Templates and tools to utilize in your planning process
- Identify vulnerabilities internal (physical and tech security, operations, policies, etc.) and external (suppliers, customers, infrastructure, etc.)
- Best practices in preparing all functional business areas
- Resources available assessing risk and designing and implementing a plan for your business

Amy Civilikas, PHR is the Sr. Manager of Human Resources at ERPi a government contractor located in Fairfax VA. In this role, Amy leads the HR Operations team and is responsible for supporting the Human Capital Administration objectives are aligned with the organizations business objectives. he sales and business operations teams throughout the state of Virginia to ensure HR and business objectives are aligned.
Prior to joining ERPi, Amy was a Human Resources Business Partner with Cox Communications and served on the Business Continuity Team for Cox Virginia supporting BCP operations throughout the state. Amy has provided HR leadership and support in many industries including healthcare, hotel/hospitality, retail and the airline industry. Additionally, Amy holds a MS in Strategic Leadership from Mountain State University and a BS in Organizational Leadership from Mountain State University and is certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP).
Amy has served on the Dulles Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Chapter Board of Directors since 2010 and including 2017 President and is currently VP Membership.
Mary Roome-Godbolt, PHR & SHRM-CP, has been with Cox Enterprise for 18 years. She is currently a Senior Talent Acquisition Consultant on the Executive Search Team. She has a diverse background in Talent Acquisition, Call Center Management, and Human Resources. Mary is a certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and a SHRM certified professional (SHRM-CP).
Mary holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Illinois State University. A twelve-year member on the Board of Directors for SHRM’s Dulles Chapter and a former Chapter President, Mary currently serves as the chapter’s Director of Workforce Development and Diversity. She also volunteers with the Dulles Chamber of Commerce on job programs and workshops for Fairfax and Loudoun county high school students.
Amy and Mary both serve on Cox’s Business Continuity teams and have participated in table top exercises, implementation of BCP during emergencies, supporting leaders and employees during a disaster and recovery, and updating BCP following incidents.
