It’s tough, but we’ve got to talk about it. Grief is one of the least talked about topics, yet it impacts all of us. Perhaps an awakening on the topic of grief has presented itself through the global pandemic. With more than 540,000 U.S. deaths by Covid-19 alone, plus add in the millions of people experiencing many types of significant loss and change in their lives, due to the pandemic, we’ve been affected and connected by what is called collective grief

Companies across the nation have had to pivot their business models to adapt to the changing environment, both internally and externally, creating work-from-home models and new safety precautions, preparing and training our employees with new skillsets and protocols. And we’ve learned more about transparency, accountability, and yes, grief.

A 2017 Grief Index study sourced from www.cnbc.com/2016/12/10, tells us that the annual costs of “hidden” grief in America’s workplace costs U.S. companies approximately $98.6 billion annually, and that was before Covid-19 existed.

The Program: Workplace Support for Grievers

I am here to help you and your employees get through grief as smoothly and as humanly as possible. It could be the most obvious type of loss, such as the death of a loved one, or a divorce, or it could be less obvious, such as a health crisis of a family member of an employee. And then there’s the loss of someone in your company, on your team, in your office.

These are all traumatic situations, and many of us are ill equipped to provide the support needed, especially when things happen suddenly.

That’s why I’m here, to offer programs that not only raise awareness of grief in the workplace, but elevate the conversations surrounding support and recovery, and acknowledge the very human side of grief.

    Learning Objectives include:

    • Defining grief and exploring the many types of grief and loss, and why that matters
    • Identifying myths about grief; turning the myths into new approaches
    • Acknowledging the griever(s); how we respond, how we support
    • Understanding the journey of a griever; and how each grief experience is different
    • Identifying ways to help relieve the grief we or someone we know, carries.
    • Identifying ways unresolved grief impacts us; what we can do

    About the speaker

NAVIGATING THROUGH LOSS: To a Life with Purpose

MISSION: To help people get through their grief journey as smoothly and as humanly as possible.

VISION: To be a platform that reaches the grievers; a support system that guides those going through the most difficult time in their lives, to a place of understanding and acknowledgement, and access to helpful tools and resources, so that they can begin to move forward towards hope, connection, and purpose again.

ABOUT MAUREEN: I know what it’s like to experience profound, life-changing grief. Having experienced several losses in my immediate family that wracked me, as well as my own cancer journey, I understand how grief shows up in different ways at different times, and how this can be challenging at work, as well as in our personal lives. Acutely aware that how we as a society deal with grief has not yet ‘matured’, and that many are unfamiliar with how to sit with grief – either as one experiencing it or as a friend looking to help another going through grief – I founded my business, Navigating Through Loss, to be a helper to the grievers.

I serve as a platform that teaches awareness and openness about a topic that is quite often uncomfortable and denied. Through my practice, I offer corporate workshops and webinars, as well as virtual one-to-one and small group grief support. (In-person sessions will be available once the pandemic limitations are lifted).

I am here to help you get through your grief journey as smoothly and as humanly as possible.
