10.24.22 Update - This has been reschedule for Wednesday 10/26 at 8:30 AM

Most organizations place the responsibility for diversity onto recruitment. It seems reasonable that if an organization is to increase the diversity of their employees, it will involve bringing in new people. But there is little consensus on the best way to do that. It’s also only half the story. Karla will share some success stories of companies that have attracted diverse teams and what they did to make it happen.

Attracting a team is only half the story. Companies need to retain them and often that requires a cultural shift internally. This is where many companies falter. They don’t create the cultural changes at the senior level needed to be able to maintain their hiring efforts. By making diversity a recruitment problem, the company sets itself up to fail.

To address these issues, Karla talks about the strategies we want. The ideal state for hiring and the long-term efforts that are needed to create that reality. More importantly, Karla address the actions we need to take right now, to start making immediate impact.

Karla Reffold founded the international cybersecurity recruitment company BeecherMadden, which she successfully exited in 2017. Since 2020, Karla has been the COO with Orpheus Cyber, a threat-led risk rating organization. Karla advises several businesses in cybersecurity and recruitment in her role as a Board Advisor. These organizations are globally based, giving Karla a unique perspective on the industry.
