    Agenda:

    HRCI Certification Credits APPROVED!

    7:00am-8:00am ~ Registration & Breakfast

8:00am-9:00am ~ Strategic Leadership - Lessons from the Performing Arts (Approved for 1 General Credit)

Skill, talent, practice, constant change and improvement, and teamwork – these are all elements of leadership success in the performing arts.  No performer stands alone.  It takes all the right people doing all the right jobs in a seemingly effortless way to assure good performances.  This interactive and engaging presentation will draw upon success practices to illustrate how HR and business leaders can meet the challenges of today’s dynamic organizations and changing environments.

Using stories from their experiences, the facilitators will present leadership lessons they have observed from the performing arts, such as how the conductor brings harmony to the team by listening, being flexible and changing to meet new requirements, or how a leader works as a producer, director and more to bring out the energy and passion of team members.

The participants will explore the qualities of a good leader and how to put them into practice.  Among the topics covered will be

    • Change management, including how leaders engage in environmental scanning to understand changing consumer behavior, demographics, technology, economic conditions, mergers and acquisitions and industry practices to the organization
    • Workforce development and talent management including how leaders identify talent requirements for the current and future needs and plans for these needs including how a leader places the right talent in the right role; how a leader develops talent to adapt to changes; how a leader oversees the talent to optimize the collective and individual performance of each team member; how a leader assures that his/her team has all of the tools necessary to perform.
    • Leadership development including how a leader builds teams and develops the collective and individual talent of its members; how a leader can apply changes mentioned above through creative practices that support the organization’s mission and strategic goals and delivers value to all stakeholders

10:45am-11:45am ~ Feedback: The Fastest Way to Peak Performance (Approved for 1 General Credit)

Feedback is the cheapest, most powerful, yet, most under used management tool that we have at our disposal. Feedback is powerful as it helps people get on track and it serves as a guide to assist people to know how they and others perceive their performance. It can be very motivating and energizing, and it has strong links to employee satisfaction and productivity. We are not talking about formal performance feedback but ongoing, regular and informal feedback. It is timely, specific and may help the individual receiving feedback relate to:

    •          How they are impacting on others in the workplace
    •          Whether or not they are achieving their goals
    •          What they are supposed to be achieving in their role  and why their role exists
    •          What they are currently doing well and what areas require improvement

Learn the 7 Step Feedback Formula so that you can confidently give any kind of feedback with ease. In this brief presentation, you will see how to use this formula in a live demonstration
