    You are welcome to join our Dulles SHRM Discussion Group for a session on The Key to Success in Managing our National Treasurers - Veterans.

    We plan to have an HR discussion regarding effective ways to collaborate with key military resources to optimize your workforce planning and leverage our Veteran talent in your workforce.  Highlights from this session include:

    • Strategy - Connecting the dots of talent acquisition with our Veterans (a.k.a. Human Capital National Treasurers)
    • Successful Workforce Planning – Breakthrough ways of selecting and employing Veterans
    • Leveraging Tools (i.e., LinkedIn, etc…) – We will teach HR what to look for
    • Mentoring, Coaching and Training to effectively transition Veterans into roles

    Burt Thompson Biography:

    Burt Thompson, BG (Ret), US Army, has over fifteen years of executive experience leading complex organizations and coaching and mentoring people and teams in how to achieve higher levels of personal, professional and organizational performance. 

    Burt retired from Active Service in 2015, culminating over 31 years of service.  Upon transition from the US Army, he established Burt K. Thompson & Associates, LLC, providing executive level coaching in strategic leadership, business strategy development, team building, and personal management.

    From 2016 to 2018, Burt served as President, Profoma Screening Solutions of the Lowers Risk Group, a private company that provides comprehensive enterprise risk management/mitigation solutions.  In this role Burt coached mid to senior level leaders in organizations that operate in high-risk, highly regulated environments.

    Burt currently serves as the President of Data Machines Corp, a Service Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business specializing in designing, building, and using cloud architectures to engineer and share solutions to difficult problems in data analytics, dev-ops, machine intelligence, and data science.  Burt oversees business operations and informs strategy and ethics.

    Burt also assists the Military Officers Associate of America with their Military Executive Transition Program.  He is the lead instructor for the US Army General Officers Advanced Strategic Education Program focused on coaching senior Army officers and their spouses on key aspects of a successful military-to-civilian transition. 

    He serves as a business mentor for the American Corporate Partners program, a national nonprofit organization.  The Corporate Partners focus on helping veterans find their next careers through one-on-one coaching, networking and online career advice.

    Burt earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from Norwich University and a Master of Science Degree in Business Administration from Central Michigan University.  He is also a graduate of US Army War College, earning his Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies.

    Burt lives in the Mount Vernon, Virginia area with his family.
